Emerald Star Award

The EMERALD STAR Award

The Emerald Star is a county rank to recognize individual goal setting and accomplishment beyond the club level. It is not part of the state star rank system (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and All Star).

WHY? To keep older members involved in a meaningful way in planning, implementing and evaluating a special activity based upon local needs.

WHO? All 4-Her’s who have completed a minimum of 1 year in a Junior/Teen Leadership Project AND be in 8th grade and older. There is no limit on the number of members who can earn this rank or number of times an individual may apply.

WHAT? The program should be something that is needed and will be used on a countywide basis.

Some examples are:

  • Organize a “new” project show, field day, training day or contest.
  • Improve or make a county slide show to promote 4-H or on an educational subject
  • Establish a community service project, petting zoo, adopt a group home, tree planting, recycling, etc.
  • Promote the buddy system with new 4-Hers and encourage new 4-H families to participate in countywide events.
  • Increase visibility of 4-H i.e. 4-H community display, newspaper articles, radio show, and community event/ parade participation.

To Apply, complete the application below and return it to the Tehama County 4-H Office at 1754 Walnut Street, Red Bluff, CA 96080. You will then be listed on the following months Leader's Council agenda and you can present your project to them for approval prior to beginning your project.
